Day 32

I've taken up yoga recently and when I don't make it to class I'll do a few sun salutations when I wake up to get my blood flowing. The girls are very intrigued with the whole yoga mantra. Tonight, out of the blue, Christina asked me if she could show me her version of the "crow" pose. Not bad girly!

Day 31

Today was the district swim meet. What a day! We had 3 new teams join our district this year so we knew the competition was going to be tough. Our kids came thru though and both our boy's and girls came in 2nd over-all! We had 16 medalists/ regional qualifiers. One of our swimmer won the 50 Free and broke the district record. I'm especially proud of our boy's team. They came in 7th over-all in district last year. This year they jumped to 2nd!!! What a comeback! I love these kids. Of course I can't talk about the kids and not give a shout out to their coach. My man tied for district coach of the year too! (This shot was taken before the meet got started during warm-ups.)

Day 30

Pre-District Pasta Dinner with the team at Portabella's.

Day 29

Mid-year awards day at Sierra's school.

Day 28

This is what happens when your coach's wife. Concession stand goodies get stored in your car. Do you know how hard it is to keep my girl's out of this stuff!

Day 27

Today I stepped way out of my comfort zone and joined the Women's Bible study at the church we've been visiting. We've been looking for a new church for a while but hadn't found one we really connected with. Part of the problem I'm sure was that I never really gave anyone a chance. I'm going to really try and change that.

Day 26

Happy Year of the Ox! Tonight we celebrated the Chinese New Year. I fixed dinner and shared some things I'd learned about China with Chris and the girls. It was fun.

Day 25

Day 2 of the Last Chance Stags meet in Brownsville. Christina swam the 500 today. She did really great. Priscilla was her lap counter.

Day 24

We swim. That's what we do. I spend most my weekends in hot natatoriums cheering on my girls or the KHS Mustang's. This weekend it was my girl's doing the swimming.

Day 23

I knew I was forgetting something! Today was Schwan's day....darn it!

Day 22

I had a whole other picture to share today, but when I was downloading it I came across this one that Sierra must of taken. These are her Build-a-Bears. She loves those things. Her favorite right now is the pink monkey named Valentine.

Day 21

So I've decide to celebrate the Chinese New Year. Partly because it's the year of the ox, and well I'm an ox and partly because I want to use my new chopsticks. Today I went to the library and checked out some books to help me plan my menu and learn a little more about the holiday.

Day 20

What a day! I spent most it glued to the tv watching history unfold. I don't think it mattered what team you'd been rooting for you couldn't help but be proud to be an American. This is the flag that flies above the girls school. Normally it's brought down right after the final bell rings for the day. Tonight I noticed it'd been left up and someone had brought in a spotlight to illuminate it. What a sight!

Day 19

I love natural sunlight. One of my favorite things about our house is all the windows and the way sunlight flows in. I love the way the sunlight hits my kitchen table.

Day 18

One of the swimmer went to China over the Christmas break to visit family. She brought us back chopsticks. They are absolutely beautiful! I can't wait to use them.

Day 17

Coach Chris and his "swimtourage". That's what I call the pack of swimmers that surround him constantly at meets. It was a good day. Most of the kids dropped time and are looking strong for district.

Day 16

We traveled further south for a swim meet with the team today. Since Chris doesn't have an assistant coach I go on all overnight trips to help chaperon. I also get the job of being team mom. Tonight one of the guys wanted help shaving his legs. Since there are things I just won't do I found one of the girls to help him.

Day 15

I've got swimming on the brain. I'm working on swim camp applications, we have a HS swim meet this weekend and a club swim meet next. I've got 2 girls on the brink of making STAGS and Chris' district meet in 3 weeks and middle school swimming starts in a month. So if you haven't caught on yet swimming is pretty much our life. The natatorium is like our second home. The team, coaches, life guards, and other swim parents are like family. And swim suits are like a second skin. We have practice suits, team suits, and competition suits. They all hang in my laundry room waiting to be worn.

Day 14

Several months ago Christina decided she wanted to donate her hair to Locks of Love. We've been waiting for it to get past the mandatory 10 inches for donating. This morning she was apparently annoying Alexis while fixing her hair before school because next thing I knew Alexis had a ruler and was measuring her hair to see if it was long enough to cut yet. As you can see it's definitely long enough now she just needs to decide when she wants to do it. She's debating between Valentine's Day and her birthday, she wants it to be something special. Her doing this totally defines the type of person she is, such a sweetheart.

Day 13

I made dinner early tonight because I knew I was going to go out to run and wanted to have it out of the way. So I finish up with the salmon patties and place them in a dish on the back burner of the stove. (Do you see where this is going?) Then I grabbed my Ipod put on my jogging shoes and hit the pavement. 34 minutes later I walked back in my front door feeling pretty good about myself. I make a beeline for the fridge to grab a water and stopped dead in my tracks. I didn't leave that torn up paper towel on the floor did I? Then I glace over and notice that my dish is overturned and on the floor too and I sure as hell hadn't left that there!!! Daisy and Lola ate our dinner all of it. They were very sorry but that didn't make up for the fact that it was gone. So the girls and Chris although disappointed (because they love my salmon patties) came home to find pizza. It wasn't funny at the time but I can smile about it now.

Day 12

Priscilla is an extremely picky eater but because I refuse to cook a separate meal just for her she's usually still hungry after she's had her share of dinner. Since I can't very well let her starve we have a system we follow. As long as she eats at least half of everything on her plate she's allowed to fix herself a sandwich for a snack before bed. So basically every night at about 9:15 this is what I see in my kitchen. Priscilla with her sandwich and the dogs at her feet waiting for her scraps. I love this girl. She drives me completely crazy at times but nobody can make me laugh like she does.

Day 11

Today was spent frantically finishing up semester projects that are all due this week. Several of my friends with older children have assured me that waiting till the last minute to complete these projects is completely normal, however that didn't make our day any easier. Here are Christina and Alexis working on their AP Science and AP US History projects. (Neither of which I was very helpful with, thank God for Chris!)

Day 10

Sierra has set a goal to sell 250 boxes of Girl Scout cookies. A rather ambitious goal considering how much her mom hates selling things, but who could resist this adorable face? She sold 23 boxes today just on our block so I'd have to say she's well on her way!

Day 8

This must be the life. Sweet Daisy Dukes taking her morning snooze. You can't see her very clearly but Lola Lolita is in the shadows too!

Day 7

I went into Christina and Priscilla's room in search of the scissors and imagen my surprise when I opened one of their drawers to discovered this. Needless to say they had to do major room cleaning when they got home from school.

Day 6

The girls went back to school today. It went a lot better than I had anticipated considering our schedules where completely out of whack. They all made it out the door on time, no one forgot their gym clothes or lunch box, and I actually made them breakfast. (well at least I toasted the poptarts.) Anyway, this a picture of my sweetie Christina as she made her way home afterschool.

Day 5

Caught! The girls were suppose to be in bed, lights out and asleep by 10 o'clock tonight. I kept hearing whispering and giggles coming from Christina and Priscilla's room so I snuck up on them and scared them! Silly girls don't they know mom hears EVERYTHING!

Day 4

This evening one of my very best friends from childhood stopped by for a visit. We went to preschool-5th grade together before she and her family moved to Miami. We've kept in touch over the years, more recently thru Facebook. Anyway she was in Texas for a wedding and decided to drive the 2 hours south to visit a few of the friends she has here. I'm just happy we were able to spend some time together.

Day 3

I wanted to get this done, since I'm on a roll and all, so todays shot is a bit boring. My work station. Nothing fancy, just a corner in the girls game room but hey it does the job.

Day 2

So I took the girls shopping yesterday. They had several gift cards burning a hole in their pockets so we hit the mall. They all got some really great stuff but the best "bargin" were these shoes. They are so "Sierra" that her sisters are the one's that spotted them and instantly called her over to see them. She had to have them. A shoe girl, I'm so proud.

Day 1

So I've decided to give this a whirl. I can't offer you much, just a glimps into our crazy life but here it goes.

So I woke up this morning with what Chris has dubbed "Party foul #1" for the New Year. A badly bruised knee that I can't remember getting.
